Overall viewership for the tournament which was hosted in Germany was lower than the previous FIFA World Cup in 2007:

In all previous tournaments around 3.7 goals have been scored in every match. This World Cup is significantly lower scoring than previous ones, with a paltry average of 2.7 goals being scored per match.

The teams that participated in the 2010 World Cup for men received $240 Million from FIFA. That amount is more than twenty times the $10 Million that the teams who participated in the 2011 Women’s World Cup will receive:
